At Camp Alonim, specialists have a great mix of responsibilities. They provide instruction in an activity area in which they have extensive experience.

Some specialists live in adult housing and other lives in bunks (at the discretion of camp leadership), but all are responsible for promoting Jewish values in a fun camp setting that is both physically and emotionally safe.

We are looking for instructors in art, athletics, cooking, aquatics, horseback riding, ropes course, archery, nature, and more.

Our Department Heads are enthusiastic, creative and energetic individuals who have the ability to manage large groups of people.

Head Specialists are senior, supervisory staff who oversee the operations of one of the activity areas in camp and manage the specialists that work in that area.

The Department Head is required to teach throughout the day and help plan and develop programs and curriculum.

Applications should have a strong background and experience in the area they are applying.

Bunk Counselors at Alonim provide a positive and enriching Jewish community where campers can build self-confidence, self-esteem, independence, and strong group relationships.

Our bunk counselors are invaluable staff members who spend their whole day with their bunks. They live with 10-14 campers and make sure that their daily needs are being met.

They are role models who do everything in their power to make each of their campers’ summer the most memorable and enriching possible.

Head Counselors are senior, supervisory staff who oversee each age camper group (or division).

Head Counselors are responsible for the care and guidance of each camper and staff member under their supervision; division programming; general camp administration; integration of Jewish culture; and staff evaluations.

Head Counselors are experienced camp people who demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and creativity. Prior camp experience is a must.

Under the supervision of the Health Center Coordinator and volunteer doctors, Camp Alonim’s team of nurses provides basic health care and TLC to campers and staff.

Nurses work daily shifts and also rotate to cover nights for the Health Center. Nurses are responsible for the daily distribution of medication, chart updates, medical logs, and supply inventory in the health center.

Communication with the parents of campers under your care is essential.

Camp Alonim employs two staff members each session who assume the role of “Camp Mom” or “Camp Dad.” Camp Parents often are people who have a long history with Camp Alonim.

They serve as liaisons between parents and the staff and campers, and oftentimes are the ones (in addition to the bunk counselors and Head Counselors) that give homesick campers the extra attention they need.

Camp photographers are responsible for capturing and processing high quality images of all campers, activities and special events.

Our photographers are responsible for editing and uploading images to the camp website on a daily basis for parents to see.

Must have experience working with digital photography. Photography students, hobbyists, and professionals are encouraged to apply.

Office staff answers phones, talks to prospective and current camper’s parents, sorts mail and assists programming teams. Proficiency in general clerical duties and receptionist skills is encouraged.

Swimming is a vital component of Camp Alonim’s day, and campers have the opportunity to swim daily. Lifeguards are expected to be able to pass the American Red Cross lifeguarding class.

Daily upkeep of the pool is an additional responsibility.
