CIT: Counselor-in-Training (11th Grade)
In Camp Alonim’s Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program, rising 11th graders take an exciting next step in their Alonim journey—from camper to leader.
CITs are still fully immersed in everything that makes camp feel like home, while beginning to build the skills, confidence, and responsibility that come with leading others. It’s a summer of learning, growing, giving back, and seeing Camp Alonim from a whole new perspective.
For more than 70 years, generations of Alonimers have called camp their home away from home. Each CIT group becomes part of that legacy—carrying forward beloved traditions, creating new ones, and building a community all their own.
Now it’s your turn. We invite you to apply for your CIT summer and take your place in the next generation of Alonim leaders.
Enrollment Requirements
The CIT program is open to rising 11th graders who are prepared to model maturity and initiative. Participants are expected to:
- Demonstrate strong character and accountability
- Support younger campers with patience and care
- Take feedback seriously and apply it
- Show commitment to the camp community
CITs are selected because they’re ready to lead with intention and integrity.
What CITs Gain
CITs don’t just prepare to become counselors—they begin acting like them. Along the way, they gain:
- Hands-on leadership experience working with younger campers
- Professional skills like communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution
- Greater independence through real responsibility
- A stronger Jewish connection grounded in daily camp life
By the end of the summer, CITs leave more confident, capable, and ready for what’s next.
Camp Activities & Responsibilities
CITs experience the best of camp while stepping into new roles. They:
- Assist counselors in supporting younger bunks
- Help lead activities and special programs
- Participate in structured leadership workshops
- Engage in guided reflection and skill-building sessions
You’ll still sing at Shabbat, compete in friendly color war, and laugh late into the evening—but now, you’ll help create those moments for others.
Tuition
The tuition for the CIT program is $7,595 for the entire eight-week summer. There is a $100 early-bird discount if you apply, are accepted, and enroll online with deposit by November 30.
Financial aid is available; you will be able to apply for scholarship once you enroll.
Note: Participants eligible to receive “One Happy Camper” grants for 2027 are able to apply their grants to CIT tuition.

Acceptance to the Program
The CIT program is an important step in the Camp Alonim journey, and we look forward to getting to know each applicant as they take this next step.
Admission to the CIT program is based on several factors, including an applicant’s previous experience and participation at Camp Alonim, when applicable. Some applicants may also be invited to participate in an interview as part of the process.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and may be submitted as long as space remains available. Once accepted into the CIT program, applicants will be able to complete their enrollment.
