Rabbi John Carrier has devoted his rabbinate to helping people explore Jewish life with intellectual rigor, spiritual depth, and a genuine sense of belonging. Having entered the Jewish people through conversion in 2000, he brings both personal experience and professional expertise to accompanying individuals on their Jewish journeys. A graduate of American Jewish University’s Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, Rabbi Carrier has taught in the Miller Intro to Judaism Program for more than twelve years. He previously served congregations in Burbank and Pasadena before teaching Hebrew and Jewish Studies at both the middle and high school levels in Minneapolis. He is the author of The Promised Life, host of The Jewcurious Show podcast, and creator of more than 300 Jewish educational YouTube videos. He believes that Jewish learning is at its best when it invites people into a lifelong relationship with Torah, the Jewish people, and Jewish practice through curiosity, compassionate accompaniment, and authentic community.
