Are you interested in becoming a rabbi? Or do you know someone who would make a great rabbi? Join the inaugural Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies Shabbaton for a weekend of learning, discussion, prayer, meals, and socializing. This retreat is for prospective students to visit Ziegler and experience the school for a learning weekend alongside current students. We will learn from faculty and local rabbis on the topic of The Rabbinic Endeavor.
Spots are limited and require a recommendation from a rabbi and application.
Participants are eligible for up to $300 travel stipend.*

When and where is the Shabbaton?
Friday, March 28th - 5:00pm to Sunday, March 30th - 1:00pm at Ziegler's campus, 350 S. Beverly, in Los Angeles.

Can I receive the travel stipend?*
Participants are eligible for up to a $300 travel stipend. However, if you are local to the Los Angeles area (including Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange County), you will not receive the travel stipend. You will still be provided with lodging and meals.

What kind of text-based learning will be offered?
There will be text-based learning led by Ziegler faculty, showcasing the school's approach to Jewish texts.

What topics will be covered in the discussions?
The discussions will explore the modern rabbi's role, evolving community needs, and how textual and broad Jewish knowledge are essential to success.

What will the panels consist of?
The panels will feature three local rabbis in diverse roles (education, pastoral, pulpit) discussing their work, challenges, and successes.

Who will lead the prayer services?
Current students will lead the prayer services, incorporating music, spirituality, and kavanot (intentions).

What will the Shabbat meals entail?
There will be shared Shabbat meals, including a Torah study during Saturday lunch.

There will be a fun Saturday night gathering, either on campus or off-site.
