Tuesday, 2pm PDT
The normalization between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is a rare piece of good news from a conflict-torn Middle East. But what comes next for Israel in developing ties with the Arab states?
By exploring Israel's diplomatic engagement across the region as well as the strategic context of the UAE's foreign policy, join Jordan Reimer as he uncovers what is behind the historic announcement and what it heralds for the future of Israel's relations with the Arab world.
Jordan Reimer is a policy analyst at RAND in the defense and political sciences department. He has an MPA from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and studied in Egypt and Yemen. He served as a policymaker at the Department of Defense under two administrations, focusing on Iraq, Iran, and the Arabian Peninsula. Before RAND, Jordan was an intelligence analyst at the New York City Police Department, working on counter-terrorism investigations with a nexus to ISIS, Iran, and the Syrian civil war. He is also a course instructor on conflict and insurgency in the post-Arab Spring Middle East, including at New York University.
