American Jewish University Hires Director of Equity, Compliance and Title IX

LOS ANGELES – American Jewish University (AJU) announced today that Meng “May” Zhang will begin as the University’s Director of Equity, Compliance and Title IX, effective September 9 Zhang's hiring aligns with the recommendations of an external review into AJU's policies and procedures conducted by Cozen O’Connor’s Institutional Response Group. This move underscores the University’s commitment to ensuring a supportive and inclusive community. Her leadership will be instrumental in advancing the University’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and in certifying compliance with Title IX regulations.

May Zhang brings more than 15 years of dedicated experience in Title IX compliance. As Director of Equity, Compliance and Title IX at AJU, Zhang will update the University’s Title IX program through revised policies and procedures and conduct regular training, prevention and education programming. With proven experience and a commitment to fostering safe and respectful educational environments, Zhang is uniquely equipped to lead AJU in its ongoing efforts to uphold the highest standards of equity and inclusion.

Zhang most recently served as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Discrimination, Harassment, Retaliation Administrator at California State University, San Marcos, where she played an essential role in the University’s education, prevention, training and compliance with Title IX and other equity-related matters. She previously served as Interim Director of Employee Relations and Title IX at Southwestern College and has worked as an independent consultant and auditor of human resources and equal employment opportunity practices.
