How to Tell the Story of Israel Today

9am PDT

Israel is a nation of storytellers. Mishy Harman, co-founder of the podcast Israel Story knows you only need to shine a spotlight on everyday life in Israel to find the most fascinating stories. Join a conversation with him and fellow Israeli Dr. Rotem Rozental about storytelling as a powerful gateway to Israeli society, now more than ever.

Dr. Mishy Harman is the host and co-founder of Israel Story, Israel's leading national storytelling radio show, and the most listened-to Jewish podcast in the world. The show brings long-form human interest stories of Israelis, and has hundreds of thousands of listeners in 194 countries around the world. Harman was born in 1983 in Jerusalem, and grew up in the city. Following his military service in the IDF, he did his undergrad at Harvard, where he received a B.A. in history and wrote a senior thesis about the Falash Mura in Ethiopia. He was then awarded the Harvard-Cambridge Scholarship to do an MPhil at Cambridge University (UK). There, he 'read' archeology and researched the origins of the pig prohibition and the ethnogenesis of Judaism. After seven long years abroad, he returned home and completed his PhD – a biography of the first Protestant missionary in Ethiopia – at the Hebrew University. Mishy has taught at Harvard and lectured around the world. He currently lives in Somerville, MA, with his wife Federica and their two dogs, Nomi and Golda.
